SmartTOP Convertible Top Controller now available for Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder 1/2

Just in time for the convertible top season Mods4cars releases the highly anticipated SmartTOP convertible top controller for the Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder. This add-on module brings many intelligent features and enhances convenience. It makes top operation possible while driving at slow speeds and adds one-touch operation to the console switch. It is no longer necessary to stop and pull over.

The kit also enables automatic top operation from the original factory key fob remote. A quick key combination opens or closes the convertible top. “SmartTOP customers appreciate being able to open the top while still approaching their vehicle.” says PR-Manager Sven Tornow. “The top-down driving experience begins immediately upon entering the car.” No changes are necessary to the keys or the receiver system.

The aftermarket SmartTOP module offered by Mods4cars for Mercedes-Benz SLK R172 makes it possible to open or close the hard top while driving at speeds of up to 60 km/h (~38 mph). Thanks to the one-touch operation, a quick touch is sufficient to start the operation. The top can also be controlled from the original factory remote, using long range RF signals and with full automatic one-touch mode.

Just recently aftermarket electronics specialist Mods4cars added another feature to the module: The side mirrors (factory option for motorized mirrors is required) can now be folded in or out automatically. Two different modes of operation are selectable. They can either be folded in by using a quick button sequence on the remote or they always automatically fold in when the car is locked. Upon unlocking and opening the driver’s door they automatically fold back out.

SmartTOP add-on Convertible Top Controller for Mazda MX-5 now with new enclosure 1/2

The SmartTOP Convertible Top add-on module designed by aftermarket automotive electronics specialist Mods4cars for the Mazda MX-5 is a kit that can be installed by anyone. It allows drivers to operate the top while driving at speeds of up to 60 km/h (~38mph) with added convenience. A quick tap on the console button is sufficient.

“Every convertible driver knows the scenarios: Sunshine turns into cloudy skies followed by a sudden rainfall. Now all that matters is being able to stop quickly to close the top. Or hoping that a red light won’t change while the top is still closing.” says PR-Manager Sven Tornow. With the SmartTOP module the top can be used even while driving at slow speeds, so the top-down experience comes with more peace of mind.

The MX-5 compatible module can be used in three ways. 1. After unlatching the mechanical lock the top can be lowered by holding down the appropriate switch on the dash and raised the same way. 2. One-Touch operation. Same as before but the top opens or closes fully automatically after just a quick touch. 3. Auto Feature: When this setting is activated, the top will fully automatically lower itself right after the latch is disengaged and without the need to press the top down button at all. Closing is done the same way as in 2. All three options allow use of the top while the car is moving and without the need to shift into neutral or park gear.

Mods4cars has improved the design of the SmartTOP product itself and effective immediately all modules for the Mazda MX-5 come in the new, slimmer and more streamlined enclosure. The new shape was custom designed to fit the components perfectly and to encapsulate the product fully. All LEDs and connectors, including the USB port, are now enclosed in order to be optimally protected.

The new enclosure is also smaller than before and thus allows the product to be installed in tighter spots. It is more eco-friendly by no longer requiring screws and by using less plastic. Additionally two LEDs were fully integrated that aid during installation. They show current status, trouble codes and signal a correct installation of the module.

In order to make installation as simple as possible, a custom designed Plug-and-Play wiring harness is part of the kit. It uses genuine OEM connectors for a perfect and secure fit. No wires need to be spliced or cut. It simply connects in between two connectors and the SmartTOP module. It is possible to remove the kit without leaving any traces.

The SmartTOP module can be programmed according to individual needs. It is possible to configure the maximum speed allowed for top operation as well as other settings. The entire module can be temporarily disabled as well while retaining all user settings. The module comes equipped with a standard USB port for easy configuration and firmware updates via PC or Mac. All firmware updates are provided by Mods4cars online and free of charge.
