As of now, the retrofit SmartTOP additional soft top control for the new Audi A5 Cabriolet is available. The SmartTOP Cabriolet module enables the operation of the soft top with just one push of a button. In addition, the roof can be opened and closed remotely via the existing key fob.

The company Mods4cars has launched its retrofit SmartTOP soft top control for the new Audi A5 Cabriolet. “The owners of the new Audi A5 will now be able to enjoy our smart comfort modules. We have been offering SmartTOP modules for its predecessor model for several years,” explains PR spokesman Sven Tornow.

The SmartTOP additional soft top control for the new Audi A5 Cabriolet is retrofitted to the vehicle and provides clever additional functions that facilitate the convertible user’s everyday life. Thus, among other things, the operation of the soft top via one-touch is made possible. It is also no longer necessary to keep the button pressed during the entire movement of the top. Instead, one touch of a button and the roof is automatically opened or closed. Hands are thereby back on the steering wheel faster.

In addition, the soft top can be operated remotely via the existing vehicle remote control. With a key combination on the vehicle key the top movement is set in motion. “The top can already be opened while moving toward the vehicle. Conversely, it is possible to close the soft top from a distance if for example it suddenly starts to rain,” explains Sven Tornow. A change to the vehicle key is not required for this function.

Like every SmartTOP, the comfort module for the new Audi A5 Cabriolet also offers additional useful functions. Windows can be opened and closed via the remote control. For vehicles with a keyless entry package, the top movement can be triggered by touching the door handle. The operating direction of the top button can be reversed if desired.

All functions can be programmed individually. Starting or stopping the engine does not interrupt the current top movement. The module can be deactivated at any time. A USB port attached to the SmartTOP module enables the installation of free software updates and the programming of the module via the PC / MAC.

Thanks to easy accessibility and the included plug-and-play cable set, installation is made easy. The connection between SmartTOP module and vehicle electronics is made by simply plugging together. No cables need to be cut, so a trace-free dismantling is possible at any time.

The aftermarket SmartTOP Convertible Top Controller for Audi A5 and the R8 Spyder now comes with a new, custom designed Ultra Plug-and-Play wiring adapter harness. With this brand new wiring harness Mods4cars has made the installation easier than ever before. The SmartTOP module allows operation of the top while driving at slow speeds with one-touch convenience as well as from afar with the original key fob remote.

Aftermarket automotive electronics specialist Mods4cars has improved the design of the wiring adapter which ships with the SmartTOP kit for the Audi A5 Convertible and R8 Spyder. The SmartTOP Convertible Top module now comes with a custom designed dual plug-in-between wiring adapter which uses OEM connectors and thereby makes the whole installation process a mere act of connecting plugs.

“We are pleased to be able to offer our SmartTOP Convertible Top Controller for Audi A5 and the R8 Spyder now with a further improved wiring adapter.“ says PR-Manager Sven Tornow. “As a result all that needs to be done to install our kit is to connect OEM plugs which lock and latch perfectly. Once the SmartTOP module is installed it is possible to open and close the top at slow speeds of up to 60 km/h (~38mph) and with one-touch convenience. It is no longer necessary to hold down the top switch for the duration of the operation. Hands can return to the steering wheel immediately.

Additionally it is possible to control the top from the original key fob remote. “On hot days our customers can already open their top while still approaching their car.” explains Sven Tornow. In the opposite case the top can be quickly closed from afar at the first sign of impending rainfall. No changes are necessary to the existing key remotes or receiver system.

The following bonus features are included as well: The windows can be lowered and raised separately by remote. The console top switch direction can be reversed, if desired. On the A5 the side blinkers can be activated during remote top operation. When locking the car, a short horn signal (chirp) can be activated (A5) and an extended mode can be activated which allows starting or stopping the engine while a top operation continues. The entire module can be deactivated temporarily while retaining all user settings for when it is reactivated later on.

All functions can be programmed to individual needs. Configuration of the module is possible in the car or with a Mac or PC. SmartTOP modules are equipped with a standard USB port which allows connecting it to a computer for quick and easy configuration and firmware updates. Support software and firmware updates are available online and free of charge.

Audi A5 SmartTOP Convertible Top Controller gets feature enhancements

The Audi A5 SmartTOP Convertible Top Controller allows simple one-touch operation of the top while driving as well as remote operation from the original remote fob. Now manufacturer Mods4cars has added two new features to the module: Opening and closing of the windows separately from the top via touch door handle and a setting that allows owners to invert the console top switch direction.

The aftermarket Audi A5 SmartTOP Convertible Top Controller makes it possible to open and close the top while driving at slow speeds of up to 60 km/h (~38mph). A convenient quick single touch is enough to set the top in motion. The top can also be controlled from the original factory key fob remote.

All SmartTOP modules come with a host of bonus features. The Audi A5 kit can be programmed to activate the hazard flashers during remote top operation and a short confirmation beep when locking or unlocking the car can be activated. The windows can be controlled separately from the top by remote. Also the keyless operation via the touch door handles was fully integrated for cars that come with that option. Tapping the door handle three times activates the top. A new update to the product firmware now allows the windows to be lowered or raised by holding the door handle for 2 seconds.

The SmartTOP Convertible Top Controller made by Mods4cars for Audi A5 is a retrofit module which allows using the convertible top with one-touch convenience and while driving at slow speeds. It also gives owners the option to raise and lower the top from the original key fob remote. This summer Mods4cars has improved not just one, but two aspects of the kit: On one hand the wiring harness was redesigned with OEM quality connectors in order to make installation even easier, on the other hand the SmartTOP module itself received a design overhaul and comes in the exclusive, custom designed Mods4cars enclosure.

“Our modules offer increased convenience by providing intelligent features and simple operation. We set a high value on offering products that are easy to install by anyone. For that reason and to avoid problems or mistakes during installation, we ship our kits with custom plug-in-between wiring harnesses.” says PR-Manager Sven Tornow.

Just by adding the wiring adapter in between a couple of connections the SmartTOP kit is connected to the vehicle electronics. New, OEM quality connectors now provide perfect fit and total protection against misaligned connections. The plugs and sockets are all equipped with latching mechanisms in order to provide a safe and reliable link. “Installation of this kit merely requires opening an access panel in the trunk of the car and is completed in just a few minutes.” Sven Tornow continues.

Also the appearance of the product itself was improved by using the new, custom designed product enclosure for the SmartTOP module. The new enclosure is smaller and more ergonomically shaped, so it can be installed in tighter locations in the car. The main connector and USB port are now fully enclosed and protected. The conformally coated electronics board inside is protected from moisture.

Apart from the two signature features each SmartTOP module made by Mods4cars offers a host of bonus features: On cars with keyless entry option the top can be lowered or raised by touching the door handle without the need to retrieve the key. The windows can be controlled independently from the top by remote and a chirp signal can be programmed to sound briefly when locking or unlocking the car. An extended mode can be activated which allows starting or stopping the engine while the top is in motion. Also the entire product can be temporarily disabled while retaining all user configurable settings.
