TROUBLE SHOOTING - NEED TO CONTACT US?
If you run into any problems after installing the module, please go over the manual again in great detail, clicking every photo for full size!
We now have a full Knowledge Base with Support Ticket system available online at www.mods4cars.com/support

If you need to contact us, the best and fastest way to do so is by opening a support ticket there

This module comes with our USB Field Upgrade and Configuration Port! We recommend connecting it to a computer BEFORE YOU INSTALL and using our support app "m4cconnect" to do a quick firmware update check. M4cconnect as well as all other information regarding USB update and configuration can be found at www.mods4cars.com/usb. You can even configure and activate your favorite module functions and settings on screen before the module is installed in the car! It is a good idea to permanently install the USB cable with the module in the car, leaving the computer plug in an easily accessible spot for later use with a Wifi/3G/4G connected laptop.
    IMPORTANT TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS

If the top does not work properly or at all after installing the module, these tips can be very helpful:

    • 1) Turn Function 1 (Main Switch) off (Setting 0). The module will be completely passive. If the problem still persists and the top won't work, check all connections. Please also check the green DATA LED on the module!

    • 2) Function 2 now has a valet mode (Setting 2) on many modules. Valet mode completely disables opening of the top. Check the setting for function 2 and make sure the module is NOT in valet mode!

IMPORTANT: Not all modules have the valet mode! Please check the Operation and Programming Manual!
    FUNCTION OF THE DATA LED

The DATA LED shows the module status and helps troubleshooting issues during installation:

    • When the ignition is ON: The LED should BLINK (flash) in a regular pattern (about 1x per second). This indicates that the module is receiving data and should work OK.

    • When the ignition is OFF: The LED should BLINK (flash) as long as the data bus is still active and turn off after a while (max 5 min) indicating that the car has entered stand-by (sleep) mode.

    • If the LED is permanently lit with the ignition ON, the module is NOT receiving data from the top controller and all connectors should be checked.

    • If the LED does NOT light up at all when turning the ignition ON, the module is either not getting power or not receiving ANY data. All connectors should be checked.
    Installation - Steps 1-3
    1. Start out by opening the convertible top. Turn the ignition fully off. Remove the back seat by pulling up hard in the front as illustrated by the arrows.
    2. Remove the seat completely. If there is no ski passthrough and no foldable backrest, skip steps 3-6 and instead unscrew the two torx bolts under the backrest. Then lift the backrest straight up to remove it.
    3. Open the trunk and pull the lever (1) on the left to flip down the back rest.
    Installation - Steps 4-6
    4. Fully fold down the back rest as shown.
    5. Push the right side piece towards the center of the car as shown and gently use a screw driver or other long object to push down on the white locking mechanism (1) to unlatch it.
    6. Remove the side piece. Put the seat belt over the head rest to move it out of the way. Now the bottom corner of the side panel can be bent inwards (see arrow). It does not have to be removed to install the module!
    Installation - Steps 7-9
    7. Exactly in this position behind the side panel is the convertible top controller module with a plug just like this one mounted to it. The goal is to disconnect that plug and to connect the supplied T-adapter harness in between.
    8. A look behind the scenes. Here the top controller is visible. Unfortunately this is not possible without major effort, so we show it here and describe how do remove and swap the plugs by just feeling them! Disconnect the bottom plug from the top controller by first pushing in the locking tab in the middle, then flipping over the lever as shown by the arrows. Also see the identical plug on the module harness as reference.
    9. After disconnecting the plug it can easily be accessed below the side panel as shown.
    Installation - Steps 10-12
    10. Connect the original plug (1) with the matching socket on the module harness while flipping the lever over and making sure it locks securely into place! Then connect the identical plug to the top controller. Make sure the lever is flipped down exactly as shown (2) before trying to insert the plug. Be careful and patient when trying to align the plug with the socket with one hand (use picture 8 as reference) while pulling the bottom corner of the side panel according to picture 6 to gain as much work room as possible. The controller can be accessed from the back as well as from the bottom.
    11. Connect the module to the wiring harness and tap the unlock button (1) on the remote once to wake up the system. The green LED on the module should now blink to signal a correct installation and an operational module.
    12. The module can conveniently be stowed in the hollow space as shown. Do not forget to configure the module functions and features according to our Operation and Programming manual.
